The aim for this shoot is to represent the idea of fairy tales by using a book, and objects typically related to different fairytales. For example, Snow White is a apple and Cinderella is a shoe.
To prepare I need to;
- Get various props I will need to make the shot work and varied.
- Decide what backdrop colour goes best with the colour of the objects I am photographing.
- Decide what lighting will work best.
What I hope to achieve;
I hope to achieve a shoot clearly showing the ideas of fairytales and of stories coming to life.
What I actually achieved;
I am really happy with how this shoot turned out. as I got good images for each idea. All of the images are linked and work well together due to similar layout and the continuous presence of the story book which indicates the idea is about stories. The specific objects that are used to signify each story makes the images different, and therefore creates a different feel to the image. This resulted in me experimenting with different editing techniques for each image, rather than keep them similar.
This image representing Cinderella is one I am particularly happy with. I really like the composition and the angle of the book and shoe, looking like its straight on and at the same time at an angle. When editing, I decided to make it black and white as it makes the image seem cleaner and brighter, as well as slightly more dramatic, enhancing the glitter shoe.
This is another image I am particularly happy with, mainly due to editing. I like how the overall image has a slightly gold tint which indicates luxury, and compared the genie lamp, that represents the idea of Aladdin well. What I like most about this though is the smoke from the lamp. This was done using a smoke brush, and doing a few different sized layers getting lighter to create a more realistic effect. I then also used the Transform Warp tool to reshape the smoke slightly.
What I am going to do next;
From this I have got many ideas on how to recreate ideas of differnent fairytales in different way and taking different approaches.
