Work Record Tuesday 1st April 2014

Preparation;
The aim for this shoot is to test out the model, clothing and makeup for my Alice in Wonderland themed exam shoots. Although the exam shoot will be in the studio, I will use the studio and ring flash for the trial.
I am basing my mad hatter around the one shown in the Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland as he looks more eccentric and acts more flamboyant which will bring my shoot to life.

To Prepare I need to;
  • Get a model
  • Get any props and clothing
  • Plan makeup look
  • Book studio
  • Decide on backdrop colour
  • Set up ring flash
What I hope to achieve;
I hope to achieve a bright and colourful shoot testing the model and the look in preparation for my exam shoots.

What I actually achieved;
I am really happy with what I achieve as it showed what works best in terms of poses and expressions on the model as well as informing me about make up and clothing choices. Using the ring flash worked really well as it showed the colours really bright, bold and saturated as well as minimising shadow which is what I wanted to achieve as it suits the character more. I decided I wanted to use a bright coloured background to make sure the images stand out and then I chose bright blue as the colours in the models outfit worked well with the colour and it is typically associated with Alice in Wonderland. In terms of editing, I generally just enhanced colour making sure it was a bold and vivid as it could be with out over saturating and looking sickly. I also done some make up and skin touch ups.
This is one of my favourites from the shoot due to the expression on the models face. She looks unaware of the camera and slightly distracted and confused. This strongly shows the idea of madness and the character looking like they are coming down from a high. In terms of editing I kept it really simple and just done levels and curves to adjust brightness and contrast.

 For this image I used motion blur which created a disorientated, trippy and exciting effect. This effect works well with this image due to how happy and crazy the model looks. With this I increased saturation of the colours to make sure they stood out and worked well with the blur.

What I am going to do next;
I am really happy with how this shoot turned out and it has given me a lot of ideas for how the mad hatter character will be shown during my exam shoots.
